Shakti Kapoor is a veteran actor in Bollywood films, having played both comic and villainous roles in more than 700 films in his illustrious career. Madhuri Dixit is another iconic actress of Bollywood, who made her debut in 1986 with the film Swati and Manav Hatia. His father ran a small tailoring shop in Connaught Place, New Delhi, where he worked during his early years. After actor Sunil Dutt saw him in a crowd, he was chosen to play the villain in the movie “Rocky”, which was the launchpad of Sanjay Dutt’s career. Through sheer hard work and determination, Shakti Kapoor has now become a household name in India.

When actor Sunil Dutt was casting for the villain in his film Rocky to introduce his son, Sanjay Dutt, he noticed Shakti Kapoor and cast him in the role. From then on, his name was changed to Shakti Kapoor and he went on to become a renowned villain in Bollywood.

Shakti Kapoor had an eventful education journey, starting from Holy Child School, Delhi, and then enrolling in Frank Anthony Public School, Delhi. Unfortunately, his bad conduct led to his being expelled from the school. He then studied at Salwan Public School in Delhi, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in commerce from Kirori Mal College, New Delhi. 

He gained admission to college through the sports quota and later received professional acting education from Pune Films and Television Institute of India. Even though it wasn’t always smooth sailing, Shakti Kapoor’s hard work paid off and it has enabled him to provide his family, which consists of his parents, wife, two brothers, a sister, and two children, with a better life. Shakti Kapoor married his wife Shivangi Kapoor (sister of actress Padmini Kolhapuri) in 1982 and they have a son, Siddhant Kapoor, and a daughter, Shraddha Kapoor, who is a well-known Bollywood actress.

In the mid-90s, Shakti Kapoor made a shift to comedy films, where he established himself as one of the top comic actors of the era. His most well-known role was in the classic comedy ‘Raja Babu, where he played the character of Nandu, which earned him a nomination for a prestigious award. The film was produced by David Dhawan.
